Wedoany.com Report on Mar 16th, U.S. Senator Josh Hawley from Missouri recently sent letters to five major fertilizer producers in the United States, questioning the sudden surge in fertilizer prices to promote market fairness and transparency.

Hawley sent letters to companies including CF Industries, The Mosaic Company, Koch Fertilizer, Nutrien, and Yara International, demanding explanations for the sharp rise in fertilizer prices over the past two weeks. He questioned whether these companies engaged in price gouging or market manipulation amid overseas conflicts.
Hawley stated, "Congress will scrutinize any company using overseas conflicts to justify price increases." He requested that these companies submit detailed information on price changes, inventory levels, and pricing strategies by the end of March to ensure transparency.
He emphasized, "American farmers deserve a fair deal, not exploitation." Hawley also sent letters to the U.S. Attorney General to strengthen oversight.
As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Hawley oversees antitrust and competition issues, including potential market manipulation, to maintain market order.
