en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 28th, The government of Mendoza Province, Argentina, recently transferred the expropriated property in the Patamora area of Malargüe Department to a trust asset managed by the Mendoza Trust Company, marking the official completion of a key institutional step for the development of mining infrastructure in the southern part of the province. This move is carried out within the framework of the Malargüe Development Trust and the "Patamora" Logistics Service Center and Mining Promotion.
According to Decree No. 126, the Government Notary Office was instructed to grant the deed of title transfer and complete the corresponding registration. The property, located at the southernmost tip of Mendoza, near the borders with Neuquén and La Pampa, has been declared for public use and expropriated. The final court ruling is expected to take effect and actual possession to be obtained in October 2025.
From a legal perspective, this transfer consolidates the full availability of the asset. From a production standpoint, it brings a logistics node into the operational phase, aimed at supporting mining development in southern Mendoza and serving as a complementary component to one of Argentina's largest projects—the Colorado River Potash Mine.
The energy component of the Patamora plan includes connecting the area to the Comahue-Cuyo extra-high voltage power line. The planned route will not only supply the future logistics center but also pre-connect to the Colorado River Potash Mine. For this potash project, industrial power supply is one of the structural requirements for its large-scale development, and interconnection with the high-voltage system will help address historical technical and economic challenges.
The transfer of ownership to the Mendoza Trust Company as the trustee means the property is allocated to a specific asset pool for executing infrastructure works, land regularization, and promoting economic and mining development. This framework allows for structuring contracts, financing, and partnerships based on project logic, separate from the provincial government's ordinary assets. In Argentina, the trust instrument introduces institutional predictability and facilitates coordination with the private sector.
From a national perspective, Patamora is planned as a logistics node connected to strategic projects such as the Comahue-Cuyo energy corridor, the National Interconnected Electricity System, and the Colorado River Potash Mine. The design focuses on supporting energy-intensive industries and mining operational capabilities, rather than on the scale of a town. In a context where project competitiveness relies on critical infrastructure, Patamora's development introduces a structural variable for southern Mendoza and adds an analytical element to Argentina's mining landscape.
