en.Wedoany.com Reported - Holcim UK has deployed 20 LiuGong 870HE electric wheel loaders across its network of aggregate and asphalt sites in the UK as part of its fleet renewal program. This deployment is part of its operational decarbonization plan, following a successful one-year trial of the model at the Callow Rock Quarry in Somerset.

The LiuGong 870HE is equipped with a 423kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. With an operating weight of 24,640 kg and a bucket capacity of 4.7 cubic meters, it can be fast-charged in 80 minutes and offers a maximum runtime of up to 9 hours. Holcim UK stated that this LiuGong electric loader is one of the larger pure-electric models in its tonnage class in the industry, making it suitable for quarry and site operations.

The trial site at Callow Rock Quarry presented complex working conditions, including steep slopes and varying workloads. When paired with an on-site 200 kW charger, the machine could operate from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a scheduled 30-minute midday recharge. Tom Redfern, Head of Sustainability at Holcim UK, noted that these LiuGong electric loaders performed reliably under demanding conditions and received positive feedback from operators.

Tom Redfern added that these machines support the company's journey towards its net-zero goals through zero-emission operation, while also reducing operational costs and maintaining high availability. Harry Mellor, Sales Director for LiuGong UK & Ireland, commented that this deployment demonstrates how collaboration, technology, and operational confidence can combine to advance the adoption of electric equipment in the UK market. Holcim UK previously partnered with LiuGong in 2023 to introduce Europe's first operational electric loader shovel.

The newly deployed LiuGong electric loaders have now joined Holcim UK's expanding electric vehicle fleet across its sites, which also includes electric mixer trucks, cement trucks, mobile plant, and on-site 4x4 and multi-purpose vehicles.
