en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Culcairn Solar Farm, located in the southeastern part of the Riverina region in New South Wales, has completed construction and entered operation. The project has a total installed capacity of 440MWp (350MW AC), and is complemented by a battery energy storage system. The entire renewable energy project took less than two years from commencement to completion, with a peak on-site workforce of 600 personnel.Culcairn Solar Farm

The project is situated 45 kilometres north of Albury and 70 kilometres south of Wagga Wagga, and was jointly constructed by Bouygues Construction Australia, Equans Solar & Storage, Lumea, Transgrid, and Neoen, in collaboration with contractors and construction teams from the Riverina region.

Neoen Australia views this as a positive development in the energy transition. According to information released by the company on social media, Culcairn is its second-largest solar asset globally, capable of generating enough clean electricity annually to power 160,000 homes, and will help New South Wales achieve its target of a 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030.

The project also ensures the fulfilment of contractual obligations to customer SmartestEnergy. Over the next four years, half of the solar farm's generation output will be supplied to SmartestEnergy to meet its retail business needs.

The Culcairn Solar Farm is built on the traditional lands of the Wiradjuri people and features 760,000 photovoltaic modules. Neoen specifically acknowledged the sustained support of the landholders over seven years, stating: "Throughout every step of the journey over the past seven years, they have stood alongside us, working together to create a greener future for generations to come."

Moving forward, Neoen Australia plans to establish an Indigenous and Community Benefit Fund around this asset, to give back to and support the residents of Culcairn and the surrounding areas.
