en.Wedoany.com Reported - Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) is actively pushing forward with the commercialization of "digital twin" technology, planning to apply it to future projects such as the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant in the Czech Republic to enhance its global competitiveness.

According to the South Korean nuclear industry on May 18, KHNP recently commissioned the development of an artificial intelligence-based digital twin situational response service for nuclear power plant operations. A digital twin refers to a system that uses a three-dimensional virtual space model identical to a real nuclear power plant to simulate operations, which can be used to predict faults for maintenance or simulate hazardous situations such as earthquakes. KHNP aims to enhance the situational response capability of its digital twin platform through this service. The company completed the development of advanced intelligent operation technology for nuclear power plant digital twins from 2022 to last year. This project, as a follow-up study, aims to analyze and design the requirements and operating environment for AI-based digital twin situational responses for nuclear power plant operations, and to advance remote applications based on real-time connection technologies for nuclear power plant operation, testing, and maintenance information.

Meanwhile, KHNP has also begun developing a dedicated electronic bidding system for the Czech Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant. Currently, Czech suppliers face numerous issues when using the existing e-commerce system for related tenders, as multiple bidding announcements are mixed together, making it difficult to submit bids. KHNP plans to establish an independent bidding system to support tenders for auxiliary equipment, construction, and service projects for this nuclear power plant.
