en.Wedoany.com Reported - Wedoany News, May 18 – XPeng Group's first mass-produced Robotaxi officially rolled off the production line in Guangzhou today. This marks the first time in China that a vehicle manufacturer has completed the mass production of a Robotaxi using a fully self-developed, full-stack approach. A person in charge of XPeng's Robotaxi business unit revealed that demonstration operations are expected to begin in the second half of this year.
Leaders from the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, the Guangzhou Municipal Transportation Bureau, and the Huangpu District attended the mass production rollout ceremony to witness the event.
The model is built on XPeng's flagship GX vehicle and is equipped with four self-developed Turing AI chips, delivering an effective computing power of 3000 TOPS. Combined with the second-generation VLA large model, it achieves L4 autonomous driving capability. The vehicle adopts a pure vision solution, independent of LiDAR and high-definition maps. The VLA model eliminates the language translation step found in traditional three-stage architectures, reducing system response latency to within 80 milliseconds. The entire vehicle features multiple safety redundancy designs in critical systems such as steering, braking, and power supply.
XPeng's Robotaxi product manager introduced the cabin experience on-site: "We aim to use a flagship model and cutting-edge AI driving capabilities to bring passengers a brand-new travel experience—safer, more luxurious, and smarter. During the journey, our cabin space can offer a wealth of intelligent experiences. We have privacy glass as standard. Once seated, passengers can activate the zero-gravity seats, and the rear-seat in-car entertainment screen will automatically lower. Besides viewing trip information, passengers can watch shows, listen to music, and adjust the air conditioning temperature via the voice assistant, Xiao P."
In January this year, XPeng Group obtained the road test permit for intelligent connected vehicles in Guangzhou, officially entering regularized L4 public road testing. In March, XPeng Group established the Robotaxi business unit to coordinate the entire chain of product definition, R&D testing, and operations. At last year's XPeng Tech Day, the company announced it would open its Robotaxi SDK, with Amap becoming the first global ecosystem partner.
