en.Wedoany.com Reported - Singapore-based data center platform Empyrion Digital has recently commenced construction of its first data center in Thailand, TH1, located in the Bang Na district of Bangkok. The project is planned with an IT load of 20 megawatts and a site area exceeding 17,000 square meters, with operations expected to commence in the third quarter of 2027.
TH1 is a key project for Empyrion Digital's entry into the Thai market, built to serve hyperscale cloud providers, enterprise cloud customers, and AI workloads. Bang Na, situated in southeastern Bangkok, is emerging as a crucial connectivity hub for the Thai capital, with the project located approximately a 30-minute drive from Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Public information indicates the data center will adopt a multi-story building design and has already secured connections to power and major fiber optic providers, laying the groundwork for future customer onboarding and high-density computing deployments.
Thailand's data center market is being driven by demand from cloud computing and AI. Reuters previously reported that Thailand has approved multiple investments, including data centers and cloud services, with related projects originating from Chinese, Singaporean, and local Thai enterprises. Companies such as Google, AWS, Microsoft, and TikTok have also disclosed or are advancing their data infrastructure layouts in Thailand. For Empyrion Digital, TH1 is not merely a single facility project but an outpost for entering Thailand's cloud and AI infrastructure market amidst accelerating competition in the Southeast Asian data center sector.
The subsequent construction focus for the project will center on power supply, cooling, network access, and customer integration. A 20MW IT load implies the facility requires stable power supply, efficient cooling systems, redundant network connections, and sustained operational capabilities. As demand grows for AI inference, enterprise cloud, cross-border data services, and local data compliance, the need for highly reliable data centers in the Thai market will continue to rise. Bangkok also has the opportunity to form a new regional computing hub alongside Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta.
Empyrion Digital has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Thai fiber optic service provider TCC Technology, under which the latter will provide fiber and connectivity services to TH1 customers. For data center clients, local and cross-regional connectivity capabilities directly impact the efficiency of cloud access, disaster recovery, low-latency applications, and multi-site deployments. If TH1 becomes operational as planned in 2027, it will supplement Empyrion Digital's data center footprint in Asia and further expand its infrastructure capabilities for AI, cloud services, and enterprise digitalization customers.
Subsequent project milestones include main building construction, mechanical and electrical system installation, network operator access, customer contract signing, and preparations for operational launch in Q3 2027. Currently available public information does not disclose specific investment amounts, customer lists, leasing scale, PUE metrics, or AI computing orders. Therefore, it is inappropriate to extrapolate this project as having already generated confirmed revenue or secured long-term leases from hyperscale customers.
