en.Wedoany.com Reported - The City of Burlingame, California, has granted a California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) exemption for the redevelopment plan at 2 Park Road in Burlingame, San Mateo County. The project involves demolishing a fitness center and the vacant two-story neoclassical building (resembling the White House in appearance) that formerly housed Crosby N. Gray & Company Funerals & Cremation, and constructing a new seven-story apartment building with 144 residential units on the site. Windy Hill Property Ventures is handling the project application.

The building will stand 84 feet tall, with a total gross floor area of approximately 209,070 square feet, including 118,470 square feet of residential space and 48,650 square feet for a two-level parking garage. The apartment mix includes 25 studios, 74 one-bedroom units, 33 two-bedroom units, and 12 three-bedroom units. Of the 144 units, 12 are designated as deed-restricted affordable housing. Parking will include 140 car spaces and 10 bicycle spaces.

Architectural design is by BDE Architecture, with landscape architecture collaboration from Guzzardo Partnership. The podium-style apartment building will feature an amenity deck on the third floor, complete with a swimming pool, spa, and outdoor seating area. Ten apartments along the northern property line will have private balconies. Exterior materials include brick veneer, cement plaster, wood-look siding, and metal panels.
The site is located at the intersection of Park Road and Peninsula Avenue, near the junction with El Camino Real. Future residents will be just two blocks from the commercial street on Burlingame Avenue and approximately an 11-minute walk to the city's Caltrain station.

Construction costs and timeline have not yet been announced.
