en.Wedoany.com Reported - At the 2026 Inale Forum, Jorge Artagaveytia from the Inale Department of Information and Economic Research presented the latest progress of the FPTA 385 project "Managing Growth in Dairy Farms." Proposed by INIA (National Institute for Agricultural and Livestock Research), the project's steering committee comprises representatives from producers, industry, and academia. Currently, the project has adjusted its goal to expand the user base to 100 through a methodology already validated in the field.
The project developed an information system that integrates tracking of different processes on dairy farms, focusing on three areas with the greatest impact: first, production planning, which forecasts monthly targets for cows and feed over the next 12 months and tracks actual deviations; second, feed management, including pasture measurement, ration formulation, and execution control; and finally, transition cow management, with a focus on pre-calving nutrition and health. Artagaveytia explained that the project currently uses feed profit as a reference parameter.
The project began process development from January to August 2024, selecting 29 farms for preliminary work. From August 2024 to June 2026, 26 pilot farms remained operational, with three lost due to various reasons. During this period, the project developed and field-validated a management application. According to project data, the application yielded concrete results: 70% of pilot farms achieved income increases through the application of this methodology.
Starting in July, the project entered its second phase, with the core challenge being scaling up. The goal is to attract 100 users with this methodology and management tool, with expectations for continued growth in the future. Artagaveytia concluded that this tool has been "very successful" and must be implemented gradually and maintained consistently.
