Bingöl Geopark (Binjeopark) Project meeting

Wedoany.com Report-Feb 25, Construction has started on the Bingöl Geopark (Binjeopark) Project in Bingöl, Türkiye, with the goal of creating a geopark that incorporates the area’s geothermal resources. The initiative is led by the Geopark Working Group from Bingöl University’s Energy, Environment, and Natural Disasters Research Center and Application Center (BÜ-EÇDAM).

The project began with a meeting organized by the Bingöl Governorship’s Projects and Investment Office. At this gathering, a short presentation outlined the Bingöl Geopark Project, noting its role in boosting Bingöl’s visibility both nationally and globally. Early actions agreed upon include conducting a feasibility study to evaluate the region’s geopark potential and arranging a workshop to raise awareness about the project.

A Bingöl Geopark Sub-Commission will also be formed to oversee the project’s development, ensuring a structured and collaborative approach. Going forward, this commission will guide all activities related to the geopark.

The region’s rich geothermal resources and natural heritage were emphasized as key strengths. The project is anticipated to open doors for sustainable tourism and scientific exploration in Bingöl.
