Wedoany.com Report-Feb 25, Ulstein Verft has launched a new Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) named Yno 320 for BS Offshore. This advanced vessel, designed to support offshore wind operations, was introduced following a detailed outfitting process at the shipyard in Norway. The construction phase involved installing electrical and mechanical systems, piping, accommodation facilities, and integrating various onboard technologies.

The Yno 320, capable of housing up to 132 crew members and clients, was moved from Ulstein Verft’s indoor dock hall to an outer dock area. During its time at the outer dock, workers installed the Ampelmann tower and gangway, key components for safe personnel and cargo transfers. The vessel has since been towed to sea and positioned quayside, where it will stay until sea trials begin.

Equipped with the TWIN X-STERN design, the Yno 320 features modern tools like a 3D-compensated crane and a Walk-to-Work gangway. These systems ensure efficient and secure operations at offshore wind turbine sites. The vessel also uses a diesel-electric propulsion system paired with a large battery storage unit, which reduces its environmental impact. It is designed to adapt to methanol fuel in the future, further enhancing its sustainability.

A spokesperson from Ulstein stated: “The launch of this CSOV new-build marks a leap forward in supporting the offshore wind industry. The vessel offers modern, high-comfort accommodation for up to 132 crew and clients.” The Yno 320 is scheduled for delivery to BS Offshore in the second quarter of 2025, strengthening the company’s ability to conduct offshore operations.

This launch highlights Ulstein Verft’s focus on creating vessels tailored to the needs of the renewable energy sector. With its advanced design and technology, the Yno 320 aims to provide reliable service while meeting environmental standards. The vessel’s completion of sea trials will pave the way for its operational debut next year, contributing to the growth of offshore wind projects.
