Production of Bila Solar’s new line of domestic cell modules is set to begin in May 2025.
Wedoany.com Report-Mar 1, ES Foundry, a supplier of solar energy equipment, has entered into a multi-year agreement to supply 300 megawatts of solar cells, manufactured in the United States, to Bila Solar. This deal supports the enhancement of solar manufacturing and supply chain stability within the country.
The solar cells will originate from ES Foundry’s facility in Greenwood, South Carolina. Ken Johnston, vice-president of sales at ES Foundry, commented: “This agreement with Bila Solar underscores the increasing market confidence in American-made solar cells. By partnering with a forward-thinking module manufacturer like Bila Solar, we’re expanding access to high-efficiency solar products and driving domestic manufacturing growth. This reduces reliance on imports and reinforces the US as a global leader in clean energy manufacturing.”
Operational since early 2025, the Greenwood facility produces high-efficiency monocrystalline bifacial PERC solar cells, meeting the rising need for scalable solar technology produced domestically.
Bila Solar, headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, operates a solar panel manufacturing plant in a repurposed former Eli Lilly factory. The company specializes in patented ultra-lightweight solar panels. In January 2025, Bila Solar revealed plans to broaden its offerings, introducing conventional 550-watt glass and aluminum frame modules that incorporate U.S.-made solar cells.
These new modules will allow solar developers to qualify for a 10% domestic content bonus under the investment tax credit, particularly for ground-mounted setups like fixed-tilt systems and carport installations. Production of this new line is scheduled to start in May 2025.
Mick McDaniel, general manager of Bila Solar, noted: “With 100% of our products manufactured in Indianapolis, Bila Solar is committed to delivering high-performance, domestically sourced solar modules. Ever since the US Treasury published its Safe Harbor guidelines regarding the 10% domestic content bonus credit, we’ve seen greater interest in a US-produced module that incorporates a US-made solar cell. Bila Solar is excited to be one of the first companies to offer this product into the marketplace.”
The partnership between ES Foundry and Bila Solar reflects a focus on strengthening local production capabilities and meeting market demand for American-made solar solutions, contributing to the growth of clean energy infrastructure in the United States.
