en.Wedoany.com Reported - UK low-cost carrier easyJet has received its 100th A320neo family aircraft, marking a milestone in its fleet renewal. The milestone aircraft is an Airbus A321neo (registration G-ZXIA), delivered during a ceremony at Airbus' Hamburg Finkenwerder final assembly line, and is powered by CFM International's Leap-1A engines.

easyJet first ordered the A320neo family aircraft in 2013 and took delivery of its first A320neo in 2017. According to Airbus data as of the end of May, the airline has ordered 200 A320neo and 14 A321neo aircraft. With the latest delivery, its total fleet reaches 359 Airbus narrowbody aircraft, with plans to increase to 389 by September 2028, while accelerating the retirement of its A319 models.

The delivered A321neo is equipped with the manufacturer's latest-generation Airspace cabin, configured with 235 seats. easyJet plans to standardize its Neo fleet with a common cabin standard, upgrading 75 in-service A320neo and 6 A321neo aircraft with the Airspace configuration. From 2028 onwards, all new Neo aircraft will also feature ultra-lightweight Kestrel seats from Mirus Aircraft Seating, designed to reduce weight and increase passenger legroom.

David Morgan, Chief Operating Officer of easyJet, stated that the arrival of the 100th A320neo family aircraft is a significant milestone for the airline, and these aircraft are central to its strategy of operating a more efficient fleet, reducing environmental impact, while enhancing the travel experience for customers and crew.

Starting this year, easyJet will also upgrade its earlier-generation 180-seat A320 fleet with Airbus' SpaceFlex aft galley and lavatory layout, adding an extra row of seats on each aircraft. Additionally, the older-generation A320 fleet is being retrofitted with Sharklet wingtip devices to improve fuel efficiency, with the upgrade program expected to be completed this year. Currently, only 7 of the 76 A320 aircraft have yet to undergo the upgrade.
