en.Wedoany.com Reported - Pleora Technologies demonstrated its new iPORT GEV-TB external frame grabber live at the Automate 2026 trade show (Booth #10002). Launched on June 11, 2026, the product is designed to integrate high-bandwidth GigE Vision cameras with compact, cost-effective computing platforms while maintaining the performance required for demanding imaging applications. The live demonstration focused on real-time, low-latency video streaming with minimal CPU usage.

This external frame grabber converts output from GigE Vision 2.x cameras into PCIe streams, transmitting video at up to 22.5 Gbps over standard Ethernet cables with low and predictable latency, and connects directly to Thunderbolt 3/4 or USB4 (USB-C) ports. By eliminating the need for a host PCIe slot or internal frame grabber, the system enables high-performance GigE Vision cameras to be directly connected to laptops, embedded PCs, industrial systems, and single-board computers, thereby reducing system size, cost, and power consumption while simplifying integration.

The built-in direct memory access engine transfers complete image data directly to host memory, reducing CPU usage and freeing resources for application processing. Hardware-based packet loss retransmission management and integrated frame buffering ensure deterministic and reliable data delivery even under high throughput or burst conditions. The solution complies with GigE Vision 2.2 and GenICam standards and is supported by Pleora's eBUS SDK, allowing developers to quickly develop and deploy applications across platforms using a common API.

James Falconer, Product Manager at Pleora Technologies, noted that the frame grabber provides system designers and integrators with a flexible, standards-based solution that extends high-bandwidth GigE Vision connectivity to platforms without PCIe slots. By offloading CPU-intensive tasks and delivering deterministic performance, it opens new possibilities for portable, high-performance imaging systems.

Samples are currently available to key customers, with mass production planned for the first quarter of 2027. Future versions will feature a dual-channel configuration and integrate IEEE 1588 and PoE/PoE+ support.
