en.Wedoany.com Reported - ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) is accelerating the expansion of its data center campus in Jakarta, Indonesia. The company recently announced the launch of STT Jakarta 2, the topping out of STT Jakarta 3, and the groundbreaking of STT Jakarta 5 and STT Jakarta 6, with a combined capacity of over 100MW in the current phase. The total capacity of the campus may exceed 360MW upon full completion.

Bruno Lopez, President and Group CEO of STT GDC, stated that Indonesia is one of the most important digital infrastructure markets in Southeast Asia, driven by accelerating demand for cloud and artificial intelligence. This expansion reflects the company's confidence in Indonesia's long-term growth. The campus is located at the Greenland International Industrial Center (GIIC) in Bekasi, West Java, and is developed by a joint venture between STT GDC, Indonesian company Triputra Group, and Temasek.
STT Jakarta 2 offers 24MW of IT load and broke ground in September 2024. STT Jakarta 3 is planned to add 24MW, with construction starting in April 2025 and expected to be operational before the end of the year. STT Jakarta 5 and STT Jakarta 6 each support 40MW and are scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2027. Previously operational STT Jakarta 1 has a design capacity of 18MW. Additionally, the company has planned STT Jakarta 7, 8, and 9, each providing 60MW, with development timelines yet to be announced.
The expansion is supported by an on-site high-voltage substation, which STT GDC claims is the first in Indonesia to power a data center campus. The campus data halls are designed to host Nvidia's Vera Rubin and Vera Rubin Ultra GPU systems, supporting high-density workloads. Hendrikus Hendra Gozali, Country Head of STT GDC Indonesia, noted that infrastructure readiness is critical to supporting AI adoption and cloud expansion, with the campus backed by on-site high-voltage power and carbon-neutral operations from day one.
Earlier this month, STT GDC announced an expansion of its Indonesia financing to fund the ongoing development of the campus. The increased dual-currency financing amounts to IDR 8.8 trillion (approximately USD 500 million), including a first green term loan, marking the company's inaugural green financing in Indonesia.
Founded in 2014, STT GDC operates over 95 sites across 12 regions, with a total portfolio capacity of 1.7GW of IT load and a potential capacity of 2.3GW. The company has a presence in Singapore, India, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, and South Korea, and operates in the UK, Italy, and Germany through Virtus Data Centres. It previously served mainland China through STT-held GDS. Earlier this year, KKR and Singtel acquired the company. Other data center operators in the Jakarta region include NTT, DigitalEdge, Princeton Digital Group, EdgeConneX, Equinix, AWS, Datahall, and DCI Indonesia.
