en.Wedoany.com Reported - According to the latest forecast from GlobalData, the total revenue of the Indian mobile services market is expected to grow from $33.3 billion in 2025 to $43.7 billion in 2030, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.6%, primarily driven by the expansion of 5G networks and a surge in data consumption.

5G network coverage expansion drives India's mobile services market

According to GlobalData's "India Mobile Broadband Forecast (Q4-2025)", mobile data service revenue will grow at a CAGR of 8.9% between 2025 and 2030, driven by sustained growth in data subscriptions and an expected increase in the adoption of high-ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) 5G services. Meanwhile, mobile voice service revenue will decline at a CAGR of 2.4% over the forecast period, as operators offer free voice minutes in bundled packages and users increasingly shift to OTT (over-the-top) communication platform-based voice services.

Neha Mishra, Telecom Analyst at GlobalData, noted: "Average monthly data usage per mobile connection is expected to increase from 25.7 GB in 2025 to 58.9 GB in 2030, aligning with the continued surge in consumption of high-bandwidth online video and social media content on mobile networks, primarily driven by widespread 4G coverage, 5G network expansion, and data-intensive plans launched by operators."

At the mobile technology level, 4G remains the leading technology by subscription in 2025, but its share of total mobile subscriptions is expected to gradually decline over the forecast period as users accelerate their shift to faster 5G services. 5G is expected to surpass 4G in subscriber base by 2027 and maintain its leading position through 2030. Major mobile network operators (MNOs) are continuing to advance 5G network expansion and investment: Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio already offer extensive nationwide 5G coverage; Vodafone Idea (Vi), a later entrant, joined the market in March 2025 and has begun accelerating expansion to consolidate its market position. Additionally, operators offering unlimited 5G data plans will further drive 5G adoption growth in both urban and non-urban areas.

In terms of market share, Reliance Jio leads the Indian mobile services market in mobile subscriptions in 2025, currently with over 200 million 5G users, and is expected to maintain its leadership position through 2030, thanks to its rapid 5G deployment. Airtel India, the second-largest mobile service provider, is actively expanding its 5G deployment, adding approximately 25,000 5G sites in 2025, with its 5G user base growing to over 135 million.

Mishra concluded that the Indian mobile market will continue to evolve, balancing affordability and monetization while expanding 5G adoption. As data usage continues to surge, operators will prioritize broader network deployment, capacity enhancement, and tiered pricing strategies to convert traffic growth into revenue. Meanwhile, in a highly competitive environment, digital services, content bundling, and ecosystem partnerships will play a key role in driving customer engagement and long-term value creation.
