en.Wedoany.com Reported - SAL is strengthening its operational capabilities through long-term charters of three Octopus 12.6-class newbuilds, which are scheduled to join the company's heavy-lift fleet in 2028.

These multipurpose heavy-lift vessels, designed by CSSC Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (CSSC-SDARI), feature a large box-shaped cargo hold and a combined crane capacity of 500 tonnes. The Octopus 12.6-class vessels are equipped with a 1A ice class notation and energy-efficient design features.
SAL stated that these ships are purpose-built to support a wide range of project cargo and heavy-lift operations, further enhancing its ability to provide customers with reliable, flexible, and future-oriented transport solutions.
"For us, fleet growth is not just about adding more vessels, but about investing in the right capabilities and continuously driving fleet modernization to meet the evolving demands of global project logistics," SAL added.
Earlier this month, HLPFI reported that SAL had added the Patricia to its Orca-class fleet.
