en.Wedoany.com Reported - Private equity investment firm TA Associates has announced its support for South Korean artificial intelligence company AIRS Medical to drive its global expansion. Founded in 2018, the Seoul-based enterprise specializes in developing deep learning solutions, with its flagship product SwiftMR reportedly reducing scan times while improving image quality.

TA Associates stated that its confidence in this business area is based on the shortage of radiology personnel and equipment, the continuous increase in workload, and AIRS's market differentiation advantages. Currently, this AI provider serves over 1,700 medical institutions, processing approximately 6 million MRI exams annually.

Edward Sippel, Managing Director and Head of TA Associates' Asia Pacific region, noted in a statement on June 16 that AIRS Medical has a solid foundation, with operations expanded to more than 40 countries, and is well-positioned to meet the growing market demand for solutions that enhance imaging efficiency, patient accessibility, and diagnostic consistency. TA Associates did not disclose financial terms but stated that both parties expect to complete the transaction by the end of June, subject to customary closing conditions.

AIRS Medical completed a $20 million Series C funding round in 2024, with investors including South Korea's Shinyoung Securities and BSK Investment. With the latest capital injection, AIRS Medical also plans to advance its existing AI-driven radiology solutions and develop new ones.

SwiftMR applies deep learning technology to remove noise and blur after image acquisition, without altering the scanning process itself. AIRS claims that this technology can reduce average imaging time by approximately 45%. Additionally, AIRS offers the SwiftSight product, which it asserts can help achieve consistent brain volume measurement and quantification, unaffected by equipment manufacturer or field strength. AIRS estimates that traditional brain imaging methods can lead to measurement variations of 15% to 20% across different devices.

Dr. Hyeseong Lee, co-founder and Chairman of AIRS Medical, stated that MRI scanners are among the most valuable assets in the medical field, yet many providers are still grappling with growing imaging demand and limited capacity. He expressed pleasure in partnering with TA to further advance the mission of improving access to advanced diagnostics and creating greater value for patients and providers worldwide.
