en.Wedoany.com Reported - Uttar Pradesh has set a target to add over 2 gigawatts (GW) of data center capacity by 2030. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that data, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital infrastructure form the foundation of the future economy.

To meet investor expectations, government officials have been instructed to formulate a new data center policy. This policy will prioritize AI-driven, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly green data centers, supported by world-class digital infrastructure, streamlined approval processes, and enhanced network connectivity.

This initiative aims to position Uttar Pradesh as a premier destination for data center investments. Under the current 2021 Uttar Pradesh Data Center Policy, the state originally planned to develop 900 megawatts (MW) of data center capacity and attract INR 300 billion in investments. To date, approved investment proposals total nearly INR 213.43 billion. These projects are distributed across multiple regions, including Noida, the Yamuna Expressway Region, Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Meerut, and Sitapur, with the goal of establishing Uttar Pradesh as a hub for data center operations in India.

Currently, six data center parks and two operational units are in use, with an additional 644 MW of committed capacity under development. Companies such as Hiranandani Group, NTT Global Data Centers, Adani Group, ST Telemedia, SKVR Software Solution, Web Werks, and Sify Technologies are actively implementing data center projects in the state. Chief Minister Adityanath also directed officials to develop special incentives to promote the construction of high-capacity AI computing infrastructure. He noted that data center parks developing advanced AI computing resources in accordance with established standards should receive additional benefits, which will accelerate the development of AI-driven digital infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh. Furthermore, he emphasized that data center development should extend beyond the National Capital Region (NCR).
