en.Wedoany.com Reported - With Vietnam's technology sector growing rapidly, logistics operators are ramping up capacity in the country to seize potential high-yield opportunities. Ceva Logistics recently launched three weekly 777F freighter flights from Hanoi to Chicago, citing increasing demand from Vietnamese tech and industrial manufacturers for "reliable long-haul solutions to the U.S. market."

Ceva offers pickup and cargo consolidation services at multiple Vietnamese ports, including Hanoi (HAN), Da Nang (DAD), and Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), with its domestic operations team coordinating multimodal transport, customs clearance, and transshipment activities. Its sister airline, CMA CGM Air Cargo, recently launched two weekly direct widebody freighter flights connecting France with the Vietnamese capital.

These moves come amid growing signs that Vietnam is becoming one of the fastest-growing hubs for global high-tech manufacturing, with logistics providers moving quickly to gain a foothold. For years, Vietnam was primarily seen as a beneficiary of the "China+1" strategy, attracting manufacturers seeking to diversify production away from China. But rising investment suggests Vietnam is transcending its role as a low-cost assembly base to become an increasingly vital link in the global tech supply chain.

Taiwan-based Well Shin recently announced it would shift production of AI server power cables to Vietnam after securing cloud computing-related orders. Chinese company Huawei has also expanded its partnerships in Vietnam, covering AI, energy, and 5G infrastructure. According to Vietnam's General Statistics Office, the country attracted $24.8 billion in foreign investment commitments in the first five months of 2026, up 34.9% year-on-year, with about 65% directed toward manufacturing and processing.

The largest projects announced this year include Samsung's second factory in Thai Nguyen Province, Posco Future M's battery materials investment, and automaker BYD's electronics production expansion. Vietnam is also increasing investment in digital infrastructure, with industry forecasts pointing to rapid growth in AI-oriented data centers, cloud infrastructure, and edge computing facilities. Hyperscale facilities are expected to account for the largest share of this expansion, driven by cloud computing growth and AI-related computing demand.

This shift is increasingly evident in the cargo market. According to data from consulting firm Aevean, Vietnam's AI-related air cargo exports surged 110% year-on-year in the first four months of 2026. Freight forwarders report that airfreight capacity from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City has tightened significantly, with severe space constraints and rate increases for exports to the U.S. According to Rotate data, freighter capacity entering Vietnam from Europe has grown 190% year-to-date, while capacity from North America has increased 50%. Total outbound freighter capacity from Vietnam is up 32% compared to last year.

Operators including Atlas Air, UPS, China Cargo Airlines, Kalitta Air, Turkish Cargo, and AeroLogic have all added capacity, with the largest increases on routes connecting Vietnam to major manufacturing hubs such as South Korea, mainland China, and Hong Kong. This pattern suggests Vietnam is becoming more deeply integrated into regional technology production networks, rather than simply replacing China as a manufacturing base.

Ceva's latest announcement reflects this. In addition to launching the Hanoi-Chicago route, the company renewed its freighter operations from Wuxi, China to Chicago, believing both routes can support customers seeking resilient transpacific supply chains. In April, Ceva's parent company CMA CGM also announced the second-phase expansion of the Gemalink Terminal at Cai Mep Port in southern Vietnam, which will increase annual throughput from 1.7 million TEUs to approximately 3 million TEUs by 2027. The carrier said the terminal, which opened in 2021 and is jointly held with Gemadept (CMA CGM holds a 25% stake), is already operating at full capacity. CMA CGM stated the expansion is part of its long-term strategy in Vietnam, where it also operates extensive logistics services through Ceva.
