Patrick Diederich, Managing Director of DMG MORI Ultrasonic Lasertec GmbH, stated that the increased capacity will help meet strong future demand and create conditions for technological innovation and further development. Dr.-Ing. Masahiko Mori, CEO of the DMG MORI Group, attended the opening ceremony along with other management members. Guests also included customers, partners, and representatives from the political and local communities.

Simone Schneider, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economics, Tourism, Energy, and Climate of Rhineland-Palatinate, emphasized in her speech that future technologies require future machine tools, and DMG MORI has demonstrated strong innovation capabilities.

The expansion aims to strengthen R&D and provide customers with solutions for challenging machining tasks. The Stipshausen factory has long focused on ultrasonic machining technology, producing 5-axis machining centers with ultrasonic technology for applications in semiconductors, optics, medical devices, and aerospace. Through high-frequency ultrasonic technology, the factory can efficiently machine complex geometric features of hard, brittle, and difficult-to-cut materials, and flexibly apply complex production processes through process integration and automation solutions.

The opening ceremony on June 10, 2026, launched the "Ultrasonic Technology Open House," which continued until June 12. During this period, DMG MORI demonstrated the flexibility of ultrasonic-assisted machining of hard and brittle materials, with five machines on display at the factory, including the global debut of the ULTRASONIC 80 Precision. Key customers such as ASML, the University of Applied Sciences Jena, and Herbert Stephan KG delivered keynote speeches during the open house.

The ULTRASONIC 80 Precision superimposes high-frequency vibrations onto the rotational movement of the tool, enabling precision machining of hard and brittle materials while reducing cutting forces. The machine features a high-rigidity structural design and an intelligent cooling system, achieving positioning accuracy of up to 5 µm. Additionally, it can perform 5-axis milling and cylindrical grinding on the same machine, aligning with the concept of process integration in machining transformation.
