Wedoany.com Report-Apr 1, The Norwegian government has announced $5.5 million in funding for 13 solar installations in the conflict-affected city of Kharkiv, northeastern Ukraine. This funding, provided in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will power solar panels at eight hospitals and five schools, providing a total capacity of 1.1 MW. Additionally, the project includes energy storage systems totaling 2.3 MWh.

Ministry officials visited one hospital in the city, where the solar panels aim to meet 100% of the facility's electricity needs on sunny days. This initiative not only supports sustainable energy but also has a significant economic impact locally.

Ukraine has seen over 800 MW of solar energy added last year, highlighting the country's growing renewable energy efforts. This new funding is part of Norway's broader support for green initiatives in the region, aiming to reduce reliance on external energy sources and promote sustainability.
