en.Wedoany.com Reported - Middlesbrough Council, in partnership with urban regeneration experts Capital & Centric, has unveiled the first images of the Middlehaven residential development project, which will see thousands of homes built in the historic heart of the town.

The images outline the appearance of the first phase of Middlehaven, transforming long-abandoned land into a vibrant community centered around the Old Town Hall area. The project will offer homes and apartments, complemented by new leisure and retail spaces.

Preliminary works have begun, including the demolition of a 1960s annex and the restoration of the Grade I listed clock tower. Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project marks a new phase in regional regeneration.

The residential site is located near Middlesbrough College and the under-construction Outwood Riverside secondary school, adjacent to the UK's fastest-growing digital technology district outside London. Capital & Centric, known for urban brownfield regeneration projects, has appointed MVRDV architects and shedkm design company to develop the site's vision.

John Moffat, joint managing director of Capital & Centric, said Middlehaven is currently one of the most exciting regeneration opportunities in the UK, with key elements for creating a vibrant new community already in place. Collaborating with an experienced design team will bring an ambitious, creative, and dynamic community to Middlesbrough, while adding over 2,000 homes to Middlehaven.
