Six Major Transport Projects Worth 1.5 Billion Afghanis to Be Completed in Kandahar by March 2027

en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Kandahar Provincial Transport Department announced that six major ground transport projects, with a total investment of 1.5 billion Afghanis, will be completed by the end of the Iranian calendar year 1405 (March 2027). These projects include the construction of new passenger and cargo terminals, two truck parking lots, and urban electronic entry gates. The projects are being implemented along the Kandahar-Kabul, Kandahar-Herat, and Kandahar-Spin Boldak highways on the outskirts of Kandahar city.

Esmatullah Asim, Deputy Director of the Kandahar Provincial Transport Department, stated that the total cost of the projects is 1.5 billion Afghanis and they will be completed by the end of this year. Officials said that upon completion, the projects will facilitate passengers and drivers, reduce traffic congestion, and provide standardized ground transport infrastructure. Development engineer Zabihullah Rahimi noted that the projects are planned on the outskirts of the city to better organize ground transport, with the main benefit being the alleviation of congestion. The deputy director added that the project locations help prevent unregulated transport activities.

Officials stated that in addition to strengthening the ground transport system, the implementation of these projects has also created job opportunities for many young people. Sanagul, a worker involved in the projects, said these initiatives are beneficial for the country and create employment for those in need. Another worker, Hafizullah, expressed that projects like these help reduce poverty and promote development.

Officials also noted that the expansion and aircraft parking facilities at Kandahar's Ahmad Shah Baba International Airport have been completed, enhancing the airport's operational capacity.
