en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Sejingkat Bridge in Sarawak, Malaysia, constructed by China Harbour Engineering Co., Ltd., recently successfully completed its mid-span closure, achieving full bridge connectivity. Located in Kuching, the capital of Sarawak, the bridge has a total length of 1,281.2 meters, a tower height of 120.735 meters, and a main span of 800 meters.

China Harbour Engineering Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Limited, has extensive experience in overseas infrastructure construction. The Sejingkat Bridge is a landmark transportation structure locally emphasized. The mid-span closure segment, measuring 5 meters in length, 25.6 meters in width, and 2.5 meters in height, required a design jacking force of 2,000 tons, imposing extremely high demands on construction precision and quality control. The project team, in collaboration with relevant partners, conducted detailed calculations and analyses of the counterweight load distribution, jacking devices, and locking mechanisms in the construction plan. During the construction process, full monitoring was implemented for the main tower and girder stress, tower deviation, girder elevation, and cable forces of the stay cables.

The successful completion of the mid-span closure marks the full accomplishment of the main girder cantilever casting tasks. In the next phase, the project team will advance finishing works such as deck paving and ancillary facility installation, striving to meet the 2026 traffic opening target.

Meanwhile, all T-beam prefabrication and erection works for the branch line of Section 5 of the Malaysia East Coast Rail Link project, undertaken by China Harbour Engineering Co., Ltd., have been completed. Addressing challenges such as beam erection on small-radius curves and operations near high-voltage lines, Section 5 strictly implemented technical briefings, pre-job safety training, and full-process supervision systems. The East Coast Rail Link project includes a total of five branch lines, which, upon completion, will effectively connect ports and industrial zones along the east coast of the Malay Peninsula.
