en.Wedoany.com Reported - The steel structure for the Eastwood Leisure Centre and theatre project, invested in by East Renfrewshire Council, has been completed.

BAM is responsible for constructing the project, valued at £56 million, commissioned by East Renfrewshire Council, with hub West Scotland delivering the facility on behalf of the local authority. The building is located next to the existing leisure centre in Eastwood Park. The council stated that the existing building will be demolished once the new facility is completed, which is expected to open by the end of 2027.
Councillors recently visited the site to observe the progress of the facility's construction and witnessed how an eight-lane swimming pool, a learner pool, a fitness suite, a four-court games hall, and a theatre are laid out within the complex.
Owen O'Donnell, Leader of East Renfrewshire Council, said that with the steel structure in place, one can feel the space and how it will function. This new complex will replace facilities that are no longer fit for purpose, providing leisure space for residents and increasing capacity for a growing population. He added that the project will offer opportunities for a healthy lifestyle for residents of all ages.
Iain Marley, Director and Chief Executive of hub West Scotland, stated that they will continue to work with East Renfrewshire Council to deliver the project, providing modern, sustainable, and high-quality leisure and cultural facilities for local residents, while creating long-term social value.
