Siemens Breaks Ground on New Madrid Headquarters in Spain, to Accommodate Over 3,000 People by 2029

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Siemens held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new corporate headquarters in Las Tablas, Madrid, Spain, marking the start of construction on the new campus. Madrid Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Regional Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment Rocío Albert, and other government officials, as well as Veronika Bienert, Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG, and Fernando Silva, President and CEO of Siemens Spain, attended the event.

At the ceremony, Siemens announced that infrastructure company Ferrovial has won the contract to build the new headquarters, bringing its experience in complex construction projects and its commitment to safety, quality and sustainability to the project. The new headquarters will provide approximately 24,000 square meters of office and service space, designed by La-Hoz Arquitectura, planned as a multi-tenant campus with shared facilities, capable of accommodating more than 3,000 people, of whom approximately 2,600 will be Siemens employees, and is expected to be fully operational in early 2029. The project is also envisioned as an active gathering place for businesses, customers, partners and the broader innovation ecosystem.

Bienert said: "Today's groundbreaking ceremony is far more than the start of a construction project — it clearly demonstrates Siemens' long-term commitment to Spain, where Siemens has had a presence for more than 130 years. The new headquarters will combine the real world and the digital world in a unique way, creating a showcase for sustainable, intelligent infrastructure."

The new campus is located in the Las Tablas district of Madrid, near the Madrid Nuevo Norte development project, in one of Madrid's fastest-growing business districts, and will serve as a showcase for Siemens technology. The building features integrated electrification systems, power distribution systems, fire safety solutions, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and advanced building automation systems, powered by the Siemens Building X platform and operating on a unified digital data layer, enabling greater transparency, intelligent decision-making and continuous optimization throughout the building's lifecycle.

The building, designed by La-Hoz Arquitectura, aims to achieve LEED Platinum certification, as well as WELL, Wired Score and Smart Score certifications. Its design supports carbon-neutral operations and will be partially powered by on-site photovoltaic installations and high-efficiency heat pump systems. An open office concept, green outdoor spaces, a restaurant, a café and fitness facilities will create an environment that promotes collaboration, inclusion and employee well-being.

The campus will offer an employee restaurant, co-working areas and a full range of sports facilities including a gym, while a shared collaborative space in the atrium will foster interaction, socializing and the exchange of ideas. A flexible office concept, smart campus technology and comprehensive digital infrastructure will create a future-oriented work environment that reflects Siemens' values while supporting innovation, collaboration and employee well-being. The new campus will also adopt an integrated mobility concept, leveraging connections with surrounding areas to support sustainable mobility solutions; its design will create an inclusive work environment and provide services that help employees balance work and life.
