Colas Subsidiary Awarded €70 Million Taxiway Reconstruction Contract at Los Angeles Airport

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 14, French company Colas disclosed that its U.S. subsidiary Sully-Miller Contracting Co. was awarded a €70 million contract by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) to reconstruct portions of Taxiways A and F at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The contract was added to Colas' order book in August 2026, with construction planned to begin in 2027 and be completed in early 2028, with the overall schedule set before the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The core scope of the project includes a full reconstruction of approximately 1 mile of the western end of Taxiway A, along with improvements to portions of Taxiway F. Taxiway A primarily serves cargo aircraft, and LAX handles more than 2.4 million tons of air cargo annually; Taxiway F is located between two active runways, and normal airport operations must be maintained during construction, placing high demands on construction organization and traffic coordination.

According to the construction plan, the Taxiway A work will be completed in 2027, while the Taxiway F work is scheduled for early 2028. To compress the schedule, Sully-Miller plans to work 6 days per week with shifts of up to 20 hours per day, and will coordinate construction windows with airport operations departments to ensure that major flight and cargo operations are not affected during the taxiway reconstruction.

This is the 8th project awarded to Sully-Miller by LAWA in the past 7 years. In 2025, the company also secured two projects at LAX, including the €31 million Taxiway C east extension project and the €36 million South Terminal taxiway reconstruction project. Since 2019, the total value of construction contracts Sully-Miller has obtained at LAX has exceeded €350 million.
