en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Fifth Ibero-American International Symposium on Mine Ventilation (V SIVM 2026) will be held from August 31 to September 4 at the National University of San Cristóbal de Huamanga (UNSCH) in Ayacucho, Peru.

As one of the most important technical exchange events for underground mining in the Ibero-American region, the symposium will bring together researchers, experts, technology companies, and professionals from mining countries worldwide to share experiences, present research findings, and discuss solutions for optimizing underground ventilation systems. UNSCH is promoting this conference precisely to optimize and address operational challenges in underground mine ventilation systems.

UNSCH President Emilio Ramírez Roca stated that the conference will strengthen the connection between academia, industry, and applied research, fostering the exchange of experiences and innovative solutions to achieve safer and more efficient mining development. SIVM is organized biennially by universities in the Ibero-American region on a rotating basis and has evolved since 2018 into one of the main platforms for experience exchange and research innovation in the field of mine ventilation.

With increasing depth of underground operations, the advancement of equipment electrification, and rising occupational safety requirements, mine ventilation has become a fundamental pillar of modern mining. During the conference, solutions and experiences related to air management, gas control, refrigeration, automation, and intelligent monitoring will be analyzed. The academic committee has identified four main themes for the symposium: ventilation engineering; safety, occupational health, and environmental aspects; automation and ventilation calculation design; and special cases, including deep mine ventilation, fleet electrification, and the application of artificial intelligence in mine ventilation.

As part of the academic agenda, the conference will feature six international workshops guided by experts and leading companies, covering topics such as mine ventilation using VentSim, VentSim control, selection and operational maintenance of underground fans, mine heat hazards and refrigeration, high-performance auxiliary ventilation systems, and innovation, safety, and technology transfer. Additionally, the symposium includes an exhibition with over ten participating companies, the presentation of more than 55 scientific studies, and networking activities aimed at strengthening collaboration among universities, mining companies, and technology solution providers.

Organizers stated that the event will focus on innovation, research, operational experience exchange, and promoting occupational safety and health in mining, helping to accelerate the adoption of new technologies in the industry. By hosting V SIVM 2026, Ayacucho strengthens its position in the international professional mining event calendar and consolidates UNSCH's role as an institution dedicated to research, innovation, and training talent for a more technological, safe, and sustainable mining sector.
