en.Wedoany.com Reported - Finnish energy technology group Wärtsilä has secured a contract worth €292 million to supply engines for a power plant serving a data center development in the United States. The order was placed by Liberty Energy, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, and is expected to be booked in Wärtsilä's order reserve for the third quarter of 2026.

Under the agreement, Wärtsilä will deliver its 34SG natural gas generator sets. These are four-stroke, spark-ignited, lean-burn gas engines featuring rapid start-up capability and operational flexibility, capable of stable operation in high-temperature environments with low water consumption, making them suitable for critical facility scenarios with high reliability requirements for power supply. Equipment delivery is scheduled to begin in 2029 and continue through 2030.

Ron Gusek, CEO of Liberty Energy, stated: "The growth of AI data centers is accelerating the demand for next-generation on-site power infrastructure. Wärtsilä's engine technology will enhance the company's integrated power platform, improving its ability to deliver reliable and efficient power generation to meet the stringent requirements of advanced computing environments."

Liberty Energy is an energy services company headquartered in Denver that has been actively expanding into the data center on-site power generation market in recent years. This order marks a significant milestone for Wärtsilä in the data center power generation sector, with the company's order reserve for medium-speed engines reaching approximately 1.2 gigawatts.
