en.Wedoany.com Reported - Huyton Village in the UK plans to demolish its existing car park, with the demolition work, if approved, set to take place next year to make way for a new sustainable transport hub.
The new sustainable transport hub will provide hundreds of short-stay and long-stay parking spaces, along with dedicated disabled parking bays and electric vehicle charging points, while lighting and security facilities will also be upgraded.
The car park project will also improve connections to Derby Road, making access to Huyton bus and train stations more convenient.
This car park project is part of a broader regeneration plan for Huyton Village Centre. The council has secured approval to convert vacant units on Cavendish Walks into a community centre. Work is underway, and the centre is expected to open next year.
Subsequent proposals also include St Michael's Place, a mixed-use commercial area combining office space and residential apartments, as well as a new Village Green to connect upgraded public spaces, improved station entrances, and high-quality public areas on Derby Road.
Funding for the demolition of the existing car park comes from £19.1 million provided by Homes England through the Brownfield, Infrastructure and Land Fund.
