en.Wedoany.com Reported - Lee Young-jo (이영조), CEO of Korea Midland Power Co., Ltd. (KOMIPO), is accelerating large-scale offshore wind projects in line with the government's medium- to long-term offshore wind bidding roadmap. The company announced that it will begin with the Sinan Uui Offshore Wind Project (390MW) as its first initiative, gradually expanding its business portfolio.
The medium- to long-term offshore wind bidding roadmap previously released by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment aims to enhance market predictability and promote wind power adoption. KOMIPO plans to play a leading public role, leveraging its years of accumulated technical expertise and project management experience to stabilize the growth of the offshore wind market.
The Sinan Uui Offshore Wind Project will concentrate on utilizing domestic technology and financial resources as a 390MW-scale initial project.

Building on this foundation, KOMIPO plans to advance large-scale offshore wind projects in multiple regions across the country, including Boryeong, Incheon, and Namhae. The company envisions that such projects will activate the domestic offshore wind supply chain, taking the lead in fostering the power industry ecosystem.
KOMIPO does not view offshore wind merely as a means to expand installed capacity but plans to develop it into a public-led business model that integrates domestic technology, finance, and regional cooperation. The company will also focus on activating the domestic supply chain, establishing a model for sharing benefits with local communities and residents, while aligning with policy financing such as the National Growth Fund to establish a more public-oriented development model.
Previously, domestic offshore wind projects in Korea faced difficulties in private-led implementation due to high initial investment risks and a lack of expertise. KOMIPO aims to invigorate the entire offshore wind industry through pioneering investments and risk diversification.
CEO Lee Young-jo (이영조) emphasized that the government's clear bidding roadmap has largely eliminated uncertainty in the offshore wind market, and the company will concentrate its outstanding project management capabilities to successfully complete large-scale projects.
