en.Wedoany.com Reported - Chadian authorities are seeking to collaborate with US technology company Cybastion to accelerate the operational launch of the national data center. This infrastructure is considered a core pillar of the country's digital transformation strategy.

Chad leverages Cybastion's professional services to complete its data center

The partnership was reached during a recent visit to the United States by a delegation led by Minister of Telecommunications Haliki Choua Mahamat. The visit focused on exploring cooperation opportunities with relevant US institutions and enterprises across four priority areas: digital infrastructure, satellite connectivity, cybersecurity, and digital health. Progress was reported during a briefing on June 29.

Under the proposed support framework, Cybastion will assist Chad in auditing, certifying, and securing the national data center. These steps are considered critical before the data center officially becomes operational.

This collaboration complements a project initiated in February 2026 with Techso Group, which is responsible for conducting security audits and certifications of the data center's site and equipment, aiming to ensure the infrastructure meets current critical infrastructure protection standards.

Chadian authorities noted that these security measures are being implemented against the backdrop of "increasingly severe challenges related to cybercrime and sensitive data protection." As digital transformation accelerates across the African continent, more countries are relying on information and communication technology (ICT) to integrate into various industries, supporting socio-economic development.

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) considers cybersecurity an unavoidable condition for countries to fully seize ICT development opportunities. In its 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index, the ITU ranked Chad in the second-to-last tier (Level 4). Chad performed relatively well in regulatory frameworks and cooperation pillars but still needs improvement in technical measures, organizational measures, and capacity development.
