en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced that, in response to increased bird activity during the monsoon season, both runways at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore will be closed to commercial flights daily from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. from July 5 to September 15. The authority stated that bird activity significantly increases within and around the airport during the monsoon, particularly in airspace below 3,000 feet. The PAA has advised pilots to remain vigilant during aircraft approach and takeoff, and has urged airlines to carry sufficient fuel to account for potential delays caused by ground or airborne holding.

This temporary operational restriction has been issued via a Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM), informing airlines and flight operators. The PAA stated that these measures are aimed at maintaining the highest aviation safety standards while minimizing disruption to passengers and airlines. Regular commercial flights will continue to operate outside the three-hour closure window, but the runways will be available for emergency landings. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Lahore is expected to experience rainfall from July 1 to 6, and this runway restriction comes as Pakistan prepares for another round of monsoon rains.
