en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Port of Helsinki will concentrate ferry services to Tallinn in the Jätkäsaari area. As part of this plan, the port has signed a contract worth approximately €23.9 million with Terramare Oy to launch the renovation of the LJ6 quay at the West Harbour.

The Port of Helsinki has signed a renovation contract with Terramare Oy for the LJ6 quay at the West Harbour in Jätkäsaari.

Construction begins in July 2026, with main works starting in August and continuing until 2028. During the transition period, Tallink's M/S Victoria I ro-pax ferry will be relocated to the adjacent LJ8 quay for operations.

The contract requires the demolition of existing quay structures, dredging operations, and the fabrication and installation of new quay components, along with related equipment procurement. The entire project is part of the West Harbour redevelopment plan, aimed at consolidating ferry services to Tallinn in Jätkäsaari.

Ari Parviainen, Project Director for the Port of Helsinki's West Harbour renovation, noted that the project is technically and logistically challenging as the quay must remain operational for passenger and cargo traffic during construction. Hannu Tomperi, Managing Director of Terramare, stated that the project demonstrates the company's expertise in complex maritime and infrastructure structures. With decades of experience in Finnish port, bridge, and coastal construction, Terramare believes this project will support the future development of the Port of Helsinki.
