en.Wedoany.com Reported - Argentine state-owned company Kallpa SAPEM has officially announced the Kawsari mining prospect, located in the Sierra de Velasco Nororiental. Preliminary studies have confirmed the presence of silver and copper, along with positive indicators for lithium, molybdenum, nickel, and cobalt, opening new prospects for mining and energy development in the province of La Rioja.

The exploration area extends between the departments of Capital and Arauco and is the result of geological exploration activities funded by the Federal Investment Council (Consejo Federal de Inversiones, CFI), aimed at expanding knowledge of the province's mining potential.
Kallpa SAPEM stated that these efforts identified a regional hydrothermal alteration system and geological features compatible with mineralization processes, with conclusions supported by geochemical studies certified by professional laboratories. The project is led by engineer Sergio Molina, with technical guidance from Dr. Eduardo H. Peralta, a geologist, and includes a team of professionals from La Rioja (riojanos) conducting exploration and analysis work.
Experts noted that the identified geological features are similar to other metallogenic areas in northwestern Argentina, but further exploration phases are needed to more precisely determine the region's potential. Ariel Parmigiani, President of Kallpa SAPEM, emphasized that all studies were conducted under strict environmental management standards and guided by planning aimed at ensuring sustainable development. This new prospect offers an opportunity to expand the province's geological knowledge and strengthen its position on the map of strategic minerals for the energy transition.
The next exploration phase will focus on generating deeper technical information, considered essential for evaluating future investments and promoting cooperation programs between public institutions and private enterprises.
