en.Wedoany.com Reported - Nordic data center operator Bulk Infrastructure has acquired a plot of land in Arendal, Norway, for a planned data center project. The Arendal City Council has approved the sale of the property, located at Lot 25, Block 121 in the Longum Nord area, to the company for NOK 600 million (approximately USD 60.47 million).
The site is situated within the Eyde Material Park. Bulk plans to develop a data center here, targeting a grid connection capacity of 150MW by the end of 2029. The acquisition was completed through Bulk Data Centers Arendal AS, with negotiations ongoing since May. The land was previously owned by the Municipality of Arendal, which purchased it in 2024 for NOK 200 million (approximately USD 20.16 million). It was originally intended for a new recycling facility for the municipal waste management company Agder Renovasjon, but that plan was abandoned last year.
Arendal is located in the Sørlandet region on Norway's southern coast, approximately 250 kilometers southwest of Oslo. The Eyde Material Park, owned by Otra Holding, spans a total of 250 hectares and claims an available electrical capacity of 800MW, with the Longum Nord section covering 82 hectares. Battery company Morrow was previously a major tenant at the park but filed for bankruptcy earlier this year; the earlier recycling center plan was also abandoned partly because Morrow indicated at the time that its battery manufacturing facility required more space.
Acting Mayor Inger Brokka de Ruiter told local media that the proceeds from the land sale to Bulk will be used to repay the municipality's high debt. Bulk is a Norwegian data center operator that already runs the N01 data center campus near Kristiansand, construction of which began in 2014, with a total capacity of 400MW and potential future expansion to 1GW. The N01 campus was recently selected by CoreWeave for deploying Nvidia GB200 NVL72 clusters. The company also operates sites in Oslo and Esbjerg, Denmark.
