en.Wedoany.com Reported - Network Rail has commenced the installation of a footbridge at Tenby railway station in Pembrokeshire, a key phase of the station's accessibility upgrade project. Funded by the Department for Transport's (DfT) Access for All programme, the project aims to provide step-free access to both platforms, making it easier for disabled passengers, those with reduced mobility, parents with pushchairs, and other travellers to use the station.

To ensure the safe installation of the footbridge, temporary traffic management measures will be in place. The station car park is closed from today and is expected to reopen on 11 July. Between 4 July and 9 July, nightly closures of Warren Street and Station Road will be in effect from 21:00 to 05:00, with roads reopening each morning to minimise disruption to daytime travel. Tenby station will remain open and trains will continue to run as normal during the works.

Helen Hodgson, Senior Sponsor for Wales and Borders at Network Rail, said this marks another significant milestone in the first-ever transformation of Tenby station into a fully accessible railway station. She noted that once completed, these improvements will deliver tangible benefits for passengers, enabling more people to use rail services more easily, safely, and independently.
