en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Government of New South Wales, Australia, has officially launched a call for expressions of interest, inviting businesses interested in establishing or expanding production facilities for prefabricated building components and modular housing to submit applications.

According to the announcement, this call is part of the Modern Methods of Construction Industry Expansion Program (MMCIEP), aimed at accelerating housing delivery across the state by promoting modern construction techniques. The government is seeking proposals from enterprises with expertise in advanced manufacturing, prefabrication, and modular construction, with a focus on high-density residential projects and designs from the state's mid- to high-rise building drawing library.

The support offered under the program may include financial assistance, access to suitable land, government procurement agreements, and other measures conducive to establishing a sustainable modern construction industry in New South Wales. This expression of interest constitutes the first phase of a two-stage procurement process, with proposals evaluated based on commercial readiness, capacity, and capability for delivery scale.

Previously, New South Wales had launched the Housing Innovation Construction Fund and the Housing Innovation Network Grant Program, investing AUD 1.6 million to establish a regulatory framework and certification system for modern construction methods.

Paul Scully, New South Wales Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, stated that the program aims to attract leading global manufacturers to invest in the state. "This is a call to action for the world's best manufacturers. If you have the expertise to build faster, smarter, and at scale, we welcome you to help us build homes in New South Wales," he said. "Modern construction methods will help us deliver more high-quality homes while reducing waste, increasing productivity, and developing local manufacturing."

Rose Jackson, New South Wales Minister for Housing, noted that modern construction technologies will play an increasingly critical role in addressing housing supply issues. "Every family deserves a safe and secure home. This will help us build more homes faster while supporting innovation in the housing sector," she said.

Damien Crough, Executive Chair of prefabAUS, welcomed the program. "By supporting manufacturers to invest, innovate, and scale up production, New South Wales is creating conditions to deliver more homes faster, while building sovereign capability, creating skilled jobs, and positioning the state as a leader in industrialized construction in Australia," he said.

The deadline for submitting expressions of interest is 9:00 AM (Australian Eastern Standard Time) on August 3, 2026.
