en.Wedoany.com Reported - Free Wi-Fi service has been launched at Bresser-Mooca, Pedro II, and Belém stations on São Paulo Metro Line 3 (Red Line), sponsored by digital payment platform PicPay and deployed in partnership with outdoor media company Eletromidia. Currently in a testing phase expected to last three weeks, the two companies will evaluate metrics such as signal performance, stability, and passenger experience during this period.
Users can connect by searching for the network identifier #METRO_WIFI_TESTE, filling in registration information such as email, phone number, and CPF (individual taxpayer ID), and accepting the terms of use. The Wi-Fi service promises a per-user bandwidth of 2 Mbps, supporting web browsing and streaming media. Network coverage extends from station entrances to the platforms. Eletromidia plans to expand Wi-Fi connectivity to all lines of the São Paulo Metro by the end of 2026.
The deployment of this Wi-Fi service is part of Eletromidia's new strategy focused on the transportation sector. Currently, its digital displays already cover Line 1 (Blue Line), Line 2 (Green Line), and all stations managed by the São Paulo Metropolitan Railway Company (CPTM). Additionally, 58 of the 63 São Paulo Metro stations have achieved 5G network coverage, reaching a rate of 92%. This Wi-Fi service is also an initiative by Eletromidia utilizing Distributed Antenna System (DAS) technology.
