en.Wedoany.com Reported - Between January and June 2026, the Aprender Conectado project completed the installation of high-speed internet infrastructure in 9,000 public schools across 1,789 municipalities in Brazil, directly benefiting approximately 1.1 million students. Coordinated by the Ministry of Education (Ministério da Educação) and the Ministry of Communications (Ministério das Comunicações), the project is part of the National Strategy for Connected Schools (Estratégia Nacional de Escolas Conectadas, ENEC), aimed at expanding network coverage in public schools.

Project evaluations indicate that network expansion has primarily occurred in areas with significant logistical challenges, where infrastructure development requires specific solutions for connectivity and electricity supply. In addition to providing internet access, the project is responsible for installing Wi-Fi networks and signal distribution equipment within schools. In schools without a stable electricity supply, solar power generation systems will be installed to ensure the operation of both the network and lighting.

The improvement in network quality has brought changes to classroom teaching. At the "PE Cinderela" municipal school in Dionísio Cerqueira, Santa Catarina (SC), teacher Luana Bohnenberger Dickel noted that previously poor network quality caused video playback to stutter; after the upgrade, higher resolution and clearer images allow students to better follow the lessons. At the "O Patinho Feio" kindergarten in Silva Jardim, Rio de Janeiro (RJ), principal Luciana Guimarães mentioned that the network now covers the entire campus, enabling teachers to use digital resources for interactive nature lessons on the playground without being limited by network access.

The project has also impacted remote communities and Indigenous schools. At the "Presidente João Figueiredo" Indigenous municipal school in Miranda, Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), student Olivério Galeano Vicente stated that the internet helps them learn new things without leaving their community, while also serving as a way to preserve and share their Indigenous culture.

The National Strategy for Connected Schools plans to cover approximately 138,000 public schools nationwide, with the Aprender Conectado project responsible for deploying network infrastructure in about 40,000 schools, prioritizing areas where network expansion requires more complex technical solutions. Project director Flávio Santos stated that every connected school represents not just an internet access point, but more learning opportunities, greater support for teachers, and more hope for thousands of Brazilian students.
