Uzbekistan strengthens startup ecosystem ties with Georgia at business forum

The progress was disclosed in a statement released by the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan. The forum brought together representatives from government, financial institutions, and the business community, with the core goal of strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, investment, and industry.

The ministry noted that digital services were a key focus of the consultations, with particular attention given to expanding collaboration in areas such as fintech, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, business process outsourcing (BPO), and the digital transformation of trade and logistics.

During the forum, IT Park Uzbekistan organized a series of bilateral meetings aimed at improving the startup ecosystem, attracting venture capital, and supporting tech companies in expanding overseas. One significant meeting was held with Irakli Kashibadze, founder and CEO of Future Laboratory.

The talks focused on deepening collaboration between the two countries' startup ecosystems and promoting Uzbekistan's "Land of Startups" program to the Georgian business community and accelerator participants. The parties also discussed preparations to help startups enter international markets, covering areas such as investor matchmaking, market strategy design, intellectual property protection, legal consulting, and connecting with global venture capital networks.

Additionally, the feasibility of leveraging Future Laboratory's experience to help local startups enter the U.S. market, jointly organizing demo days and investor meetings, and launching new initiatives to strengthen venture cooperation were explored. In another key meeting, the IT Park Uzbekistan delegation held talks with Nodo Ivanidze, CEO of Global Tech Weekend.

The discussions focused on expanding cooperation following the successful hosting of Global Tech Weekend in Tashkent, including exploring the possibility of holding the forum again in Uzbekistan in 2027. IT Park Uzbekistan stated that strengthening international startup partnerships and expanding access to global venture capital networks remain priorities for Uzbekistan's innovation ecosystem. These new agreements are expected to provide Uzbek startups with richer investor resources, mentorship support, and international market opportunities, while promoting innovation linkages between Central Asia and the South Caucasus region.
