en.Wedoany.com Reported - UK renewable energy developer Clearstone announced this week plans to build the Ebbsfleet AI Data Center Campus near Dartford, Kent. The company submitted plans through its subsidiary CSE52 Ltd, and the UK government has designated it as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project, potentially accelerating the planning approval process.

The campus is located on a 145-acre site on New Barn Road, with a planned development capacity of 300MW. The project can deliver up to 180,000 square meters (1.9 million square feet) of data center space across four buildings, with the first building scheduled for commissioning in 2030, along with an on-site substation. Power will be supplied by connecting to the transmission network owned and operated by the UK National Grid.
Clearstone stated that a full public consultation on the draft plans will be held in 2027. The site is currently used for agriculture, specifically for plastic greenhouse horticulture.
Founded in 2016, Clearstone describes itself as a UK infrastructure developer focused on "next-generation, grid-connected infrastructure," having developed 2GW of energy projects to date. Its Clearstone Energy division specializes in utility-scale solar farms and battery energy storage systems, while the Clearstone Data division handles data center development. The company claims to have 900MW and 500,000 square meters (5.3 million square feet) of data center projects under development, including a 300MW development on a 37-acre site near Luton (known as the Junction DC project, potentially launching in 2030), and a 300MW project on a 100-acre site in East London (also planned for commissioning in 2030).
Clearstone first applied in January 2025 to develop a 300MW battery energy storage system in Dartford, called the Dartford Energy Hub, but withdrew the application in October after planning authorities indicated it should be rejected.
