en.Wedoany.com Reported - India's Titagarh Rail Systems Limited has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with TuTr Hyperloop, incubated by the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), to jointly develop India's first indigenous hyperloop freight solution. This collaboration aims to combine rail vehicle technology with hyperloop technology to create a high-speed, energy-efficient cargo transportation system.
Titagarh Rail Systems has decades of experience in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of rail vehicles, while TuTr Hyperloop specializes in hyperloop propulsion systems, control technology, magnetic levitation, and advanced mobility solutions. The two companies will jointly assess, design, develop, integrate, and explore the commercialization of high-speed, automated, energy-efficient freight systems to meet the evolving logistics demands of the Indian and international markets. The agreement establishes a structured framework for developing cargo transportation solutions based on hyperloop technology, utilizing indigenous technology and manufacturing capabilities.
The core of the collaboration is to build India's own hyperloop freight transportation ecosystem through domestic research, engineering, and manufacturing. This initiative closely aligns with several national priorities, including "Make in India," "Atmanirbhar Bharat" (Self-Reliant India), and "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India Vision), aiming to reduce technological dependence while creating globally competitive transportation solutions.
Under the cooperation agreement, the companies will focus on designing an indigenous hyperloop freight system, developing propulsion and control technologies, integrating rail vehicle engineering with hyperloop infrastructure, assessing commercial deployment opportunities, exploring domestic and international markets, and building scalable freight solutions.
Titagarh Rail Systems Limited is one of India's leading mobility solution providers, with expertise in manufacturing passenger coaches, metro trains, semi-high-speed trains, propulsion systems, freight wagons, and specialized rail vehicles. TuTr Hyperloop, incubated at IIT Madras, focuses on indigenous hyperloop, magnetic levitation (Maglev), and linear induction motor technologies for high-speed freight and passenger transport, and has previously provided advanced mobility solutions to organizations such as the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) and the Deendayal Port Authority in Kandla.
Shri Prithish Chowdhary, Deputy Managing Director of Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, stated that this collaboration is a significant milestone in creating India's first hyperloop freight mobility platform, combining TRSL's expertise in rail vehicle design, engineering, and manufacturing with TuTr's hyperloop technology to develop transformative freight mobility solutions that set new global benchmarks for speed, sustainability, and engineering excellence.
Dr. Aravind Bharadwaj, Co-founder and Director of TuTr Hyperloop, stated that this partnership represents a defining moment for India's advanced mobility ecosystem. By combining TuTr's indigenous propulsion and hyperloop technology with Titagarh's expertise in wagon manufacturing and rail mobility, the aim is to create faster, more efficient, and globally competitive next-generation cargo transportation solutions.
