CMA CGM Imposes $1,000 and $500 Peak Season Surcharges on Indian Subcontinent Cargo
en.Wedoany.com Reported - CMA CGM has introduced new Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) on cargo shipped from the Indian subcontinent, applicable to routes connecting Asia with Red Sea ports, Central America, the Caribbean, and the West Coast of South America.

For Red Sea routes, this surcharge takes effect from July 18, 2026, with a fixed charge of $1,000 per container, regardless of size. The surcharge applies to all cargo types, with origins including Northwest and Southeast India (based on vessel departure date) as well as Pakistan and Sri Lanka (based on container gate-in date).
For shipments to Latin American markets, the surcharge is set at $500 per container, effective from July 15, 2026. Origins similarly cover India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Final destinations include all port terminals in Central America, the Caribbean Basin, and countries on the West Coast of South America.
CMA CGM reminds users that this Peak Season Surcharge is charged separately from the basic freight rate. Importers and exporters should include bunker surcharges, terminal handling charges (THC) at both origin and destination ports, port security-related fees, and any other local or contingency charges in their logistics budgets.
