en.Wedoany.com Reported - Northern, a UK rail operator, is preparing a long-term procurement framework covering multiple areas such as building renovations, depot upgrades, major civil engineering, electromechanical works, track, electrification, and signaling systems, aiming to establish a stable supply chain for existing operations and the introduction of new trains.
The framework agreement will last for eight years, scheduled to commence in March 2027, with an initial term of five years and an option to extend until 2035. The framework will be divided into four specialized lots, covering interior building renovations, access and heavy component movement, comprehensive multidisciplinary rail infrastructure projects, and specialized design and construction service facilities. Among these, the flagship multidisciplinary lot will include civil engineering, construction, permanent way, electrification, high-voltage engineering, signaling, telecommunications, geotechnical works, drainage, highways, environmental improvements, and electromechanical installations.
Northern stated that the framework aims to provide a flexible delivery model capable of handling projects of varying scales and complexity. Additionally, contractors are required to drive continuous improvement, innovation, and lifecycle performance enhancement across the entire asset.
Northern has initiated early market engagement activities before the formal tender, with an online supplier briefing scheduled for July 14. The company is seeking industry feedback on the proposed framework structure, packaging strategy, pricing model, commercial terms, and risk allocation before issuing the formal tender documents.
