en.Wedoany.com Reported - BMW has confirmed that the M Performance version of the new-generation X5 will retain a pure gasoline V8 engine without a hybrid system. The model is expected to launch next year, likely named the X5 M60, replacing the current X5 M60i.

The exterior of the new-generation X5 will draw inspiration from BMW's Neue Klasse design language. In terms of powertrain, the X5 M60 will be equipped with a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine without any electric assist system. The current X5 M60i's engine produces 523 hp, and the new model is expected to receive a power boost. According to BMW Blog, the new X5 M60 could achieve a maximum power output of 603 hp and a peak torque of 590 lb-ft (approximately 800 Nm), close to the figures of the plug-in hybrid X5 M60e. The X5 M60e's powertrain combines a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine with an electric motor, paired with a 26.5 kWh battery pack.
The two models are close in performance but differ fundamentally in technical approach: the M60e is a hybrid, while the standard X5 M60 adds two extra cylinders and a turbocharger, with no electrified components at all. This means the latter is less fuel-efficient but may offer a more impressive exhaust note during operation.
