Kazakhstan Plans to Produce 100,000 Automotive Body Sets by 2029

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Andriy Lavrentiev, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan's Allur company, proposed at a government meeting that establishing a full-process stamping production system for passenger cars is a key step to improving the localization level of the country's automotive industry.

Currently, relevant parties are advancing a cross-industry project named "Qarmet—Allur—Kia Kazakhstan." This project plans to integrate metallurgy and automobile manufacturing into a unified production chain and is open to participation by other automakers.

This collaboration model draws on the experience of the bus production project in the city of Saran. Local bus manufacturers have already begun using steel produced by Qarmet.

According to the plan, Qarmet will start producing automotive steel sheets that meet the technical requirements of passenger car manufacturers in 2028. Based on this, mass production of automotive body components is scheduled to begin in 2029. The project's design capacity is no less than 100,000 body sets per year, with the share of domestically produced Kazakh steel accounting for no less than 75%.

Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov stated at the meeting that the government supports the automotive steel production project and Qarmet's large-scale modernization plan. He noted that the primary task of Kazakhstan's automotive industry is to further improve localization levels, retain more product value domestically, and develop the country's own automotive brands with government support and active enterprise participation. Bektenov emphasized that automotive steel production is of strategic importance, and this project will strengthen collaboration between steel enterprises and the automotive manufacturing sector, promoting the production of high value-added products. The government will provide support for the project's implementation.
