en.Wedoany.com Reported - RISE Robotics has launched its fluid-free RISE cylinder, which has been integrated into Anthony Liftgate's redesigned Re-Gen Railtrac liftgate system. The collaboration aims to replace traditional hydraulic cylinders with electromechanical solutions, advancing liftgate technology. RISE states that this cylinder is the first in its category to generate its own energy during operation, achieving up to 90% less energy consumption compared to conventional hydraulic cylinders through lower power draw and regenerative charging capabilities. This efficiency makes electrification of heavy machinery practical and economically viable, while retaining hydraulic-like force output and balancing efficiency, precision, speed, and weight performance.

Building on the liftgate application, RISE Robotics is expanding its technology into the heavy machinery sector. RISE Labs is currently developing cylinders with a rated capacity of 50,000 pounds—more than 10 times the 4,500-pound load capacity of its liftgate cylinder. The company is partnering with industry players, including manufacturers of high-capacity forklifts and lithium-ion battery packs, to ensure manufacturability, capability, and compatibility. Following testing and demonstrations, the scaled-up cylinder has proven viable and outperforms existing hydraulic solutions.
Despite the significant increase in scale, cost efficiency has still improved. Even when accounting for infrastructure adaptation costs, its total cost of ownership remains significantly lower than that of hydraulic systems. Thanks to a streamlined structural design, the RISE cylinder requires considerably less material than comparable hydraulic systems and uses components that can be produced with conventional manufacturing methods, eliminating the need for specialized machinery.
The cylinder features integrated automatic monitoring that supports scheduled and preventive maintenance—a capability that is difficult to achieve in current hydraulic systems. Unlike most hydraulic systems that lack smart device capabilities, this technology enables hands-free automatic monitoring throughout the machine's entire lifecycle, replacing costly and invasive troubleshooting with telematics and self-monitoring systems.
The Re-Gen Railtrac, developed in collaboration with Anthony Liftgate, is seen as a starting point for the electrification of material handling equipment. RISE Robotics is currently building partnerships with manufacturers and research institutions across multiple industries to adapt the technology for broader applications, jointly conducting concept validation, manufacturing, testing, and evaluation for next-generation heavy machinery.
