en.Wedoany.com Reported - Indian logistics company CJ Darcl Logistics has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Highways for Electric Vehicles (NHEV) to pilot the deployment of heavy-duty electric trucks and supporting charging and energy infrastructure along the Bengaluru–Chennai highway corridor.

Under the agreement, the two parties will jointly build integrated energy stations combining charging, battery swapping, and solar power, and co-own and operate a fleet of heavy-duty electric trucks on the corridor. The collaboration will also test operational models aimed at making electric freight commercially viable at scale.

The partnership combines CJ Darcl's freight and fleet management capabilities with NHEV's highway infrastructure expertise, including identifying truck manufacturers and technology partners, establishing operational standards, and advancing the infrastructure and policy measures needed for broader adoption.

The MoU also outlines operational arrangements to facilitate a gradual transition from diesel to electric transport. For example, a trailer exchange model will be adopted around the National Capital Region, allowing seamless integration between diesel and electric trucks, while providing fleet management, driver training, and other services to ensure scalability.

Both organizations stated that the Bengaluru–Chennai pilot aims to serve as a blueprint for a nationwide low-emission freight corridor network, demonstrating the commercial viability of heavy-duty electric trucks while reducing logistics emissions.
